CAROTHERS COUNTRY FARM AND FIBER MILL
OUR LLAMAS
Our farm is located in SE Minnesota, only about one mile from the Mississippi
River. We have about 70 acres in a valley that has a spring fed creek
and l ush
green pastures. We fell in love with llamas in 1986. Their beauty and inquisitiveness
are irresistible. We purchased our first 3 in 1989. And in 2000 we saw
our first Argentine llamas and decided that we must own some. Now, Carothers
Country Farm specializes in Argentine and Argentine type llamas. We are
the largest breeders of Argentines in the Midwest. Our herd now numbers
23 full Argentine llamas with 14 cria due this year. With less than 150
pure Argentines in the USA and the borders closed for further importation,
you will find an excellent choice of those limited bloodlines here at
our farm.We often refer to these llamas as our "Teddy Bears".
You can see why when you look at their dense fine wool and awesome wool
coverage from the top of their ears to the bottom of their toes. They
have wonderful dispositions and are very robust in build, featuring strong
heavy bone. Check them out and consider joining the fortunate few who
own Argentine or Argentine type llamas. All of our llamas have been carefully
selected for their gentle dispositions, superior fleece and correctness.
We are very excited about the llamas we are breeding and the crias they
are producing. We look forward to having you experience them. Consider
adding Argentine Awe to your herd!
OUR FIBER MILL
Having a full service fibe r
mill has been a dream of mine for two years. I have been researching equipment
and dreaming of the day it would become reality. And now that day has
arrived! Our mill will be up and running in March 2005. We have purchased
a McDermott carder and picker and an industrial drafter and spinner. We
are able to produce roving, batts or yarn for you. I have also found local
fiber artists who will do hand weaving, spinning, and knitting to give
you a completed final product if that is what you desire. Your fiber will
be treated as our own once it reaches our mill. So pack up your stash
of wool or prepare this year's shearing and send it to us. You won't be
sorry. Contact us if you have any questions.
