First Annual Online U.S/Canada Llama Futurity

Synopsis: The online llama futurity is an event like no other, and it is the ONLY way to get a male llama accepted to the Fall Frenzy sale in October. The concept is simple and entering a llama will be simple. Premiums will be paid out as determined by the number of entries in each class. Each entrant will send in a video for their entry, and all videos will be placed onto a DVD. The DVD is copied and sent to the judges for viewing and judging. Each judge will rank the llamas in each class based on the videos. The judges' placements are sent to LlamaSalesList.Com and the winners will be announced online. ALL females placing in the Top 5 of each class are automatically eligible for the Fall Frenzy sale or March Madness 07. Now here are more specific details:

Why have a futurity like this?

There are several reasons to do so. This is an event you do not have to leave home to attend. You do not have to be constantly re-grooming your llama while you wait for his/her class. The llamas themselves are not stressed and do not need to travel and be penned up in a 10' x 10' stall while enduring a hot day. The cost of this event is just postage and maybe a camcorder cassette or a CD-ROM, DVD, etc. There will be premiums to be won, as well as ribbons. Since all the videos will be recorded in the same way and length of time, all llamas are on the same "playing field." Judges can evaluate these llamas in more detail than at a live show because the llamas can be watched several times, put in slow motion, etc. Ever felt like the judge did not look at your llama much? With this futurity, every llama will be evaluated equally.

1. Juvenile Suri Males, ages 6-12 months
2. Juvenile Suri Females, ages 6-12 months
3. Yearling suri Males, ages 13-23 months
4. Yearling suri Females, ages, 13-23 months

5. Juvenile Non-Suri Males, ages 6-12 months
6. Juvenile Non-Suri Females, ages 6-12 months
7. Yearling Non-Suri Males, ages 13-23 months
8. Yearling Non-Suri Females, ages 13-23 months

Entry Fees: $80
Herd Sire Nomination Fee (optional): $50 (If nominated, the owner will receive 20% of the premium won)

Requirements: A Camcorder or digital video device. However, the video itself does not have to digital. Analog videos will be accepted. We can accept nearly all video formats. Please inquire to confirm if you are unsure about your video format. Very specific video recording directions need to be followed in order to be officially entered. These instructions are included with the futurity application download.

Premium Payouts:

1st Place - 35% of Premium *
2nd Place - 20%
3rd Place - 8%
4th Place - 4%
5th Place - 3%

*In male classes, 1st place winners are also automatically eligible for the Fall Frenzy sale in October. One 2nd place may also be selected as a 5th male in the sale, if the selection committee elects to allow a 5th male.

Sponsors Needed: In order to keep entry fees lower, we have to rely on sponsers for this event. We will give a brand new camcorder to every sponsor that donates $400 or more. Donations will go towards event costs and judge payments.
