December 2009 E-Newsletter

Llama Enthusiasts,

We're wrapping up 2009 and looking forward to 2010.  2009 was mostly a year of planning for LSL. We planned, brainstormed, and pondered the future of LSL, and where we are heading.  To be honest, right now, I feel like we have only just begun. There is so much more to do. 2009 was rough, especially in the beginning.  We just sat back and watched our spin off, LlamaSeeker.Com take off as a leads generating website that typically brought in about 8-10 leads/month.  At times we fell behind in communicating with you, as other things happened in our lives.  My son was born in June 2009 and somehow I managed to not allow to come to a halt.  We continued to have interest from farms wanting to do their own online auctions, and in a tough market, held two auctions that produced sold llamas. Out of 199 llamas, 43 have sold off the private treaty page.

In 2010, we hope many of you will consider becoming members of LSL.  It is geared towards saving you money rather than using our services individually (although that is still an option for non-members).  There might another llama site or two that offers a paid membership, but just compare what they give you (maybe another website in addition to the one you have or a "community" experience?) and what we offer.  We offer the tools and resources you need to sell your llamas.

March Madness is Coming! Consignments start in January

Just a reminder, if you were given a free consignment to March Madness last year, you must let us know you wish to use it. We will not be notifying those that received the free consignments. Remember, if you plan to consign 2 or more llamas, it is worth becoming a member for $15 more and enjoy the extra perks such as unlimited private treaty ads. Consignment Deadline will be Feb. 6. In the past we have allowed late entries but we have also sacrificed advertising/promotion of the sale. This year we do not want to repeat that, so please send consignments as early as possible.

LlamaSalesList.Com is on Facebook and Twitter
We are posting live feeds via Twitter to our website as our method of important updates. You can also subscribe to our "tweets" and never miss an update at the very moment we post. This also lessens the number of times you need to visit our website for updates. We were the first llama organization to use Twitter in this way but not the last. Others will follow as we continue to lead the way! Follow our updates at www.twitter.com/lslauction.  You can find us on Facebook as well. Search for "LlamaSalesList.Com".

Reminder LlamaSalesList.Com memberships start in January 2010
Non-members can still participate in auctions and purchase ad space, etc. Basically nothing would change for non-members, except that members do get a discount if we host a production sale for them. Non-members will pay the standard rate. The membership rate will be $315.

Members will automatically get the following for one year:
- Two Consignments to March Madness 10 (llamas must still be accepted by the selection committee - if you are unsure whether your llamas would meet the criteria, you can submit them for review prior to becoming a member. Our basic criteria is acceptable toplines, front/back legs, and groomed fiber, nothing considered genetically unsound or serious faults, or unhealthy). Usual policy on sold llamas is in effect (10% of sale price - $100 on all sold llamas) ($300 value)

- Unlimited Private Treaty Listings - List as many as you like. This searchable database allows advanced and detail searches to pinpoint exactly what buyers are looking for. Each day a llama from the private treaty is posted as the day's feature. ($10 per listing value)

- Breeders Directory Membership - Now enjoy the benefits of obtaining leads of those looking to raise llamas in your home state. You receive a listing on LlamaBreeder.Com and you get referrals from LlamaSeeker.Com! ($60 value)

- Rotating Banner Ad - you will get a farm banner ad that rotates on many of the LSL pages. Give us your logo and we will create the banner for you. If you already have a banner made by us or you, then it will automatically rotate as long as you are a member. ($50 value)

- Future Services - we will be working on a service in 2010 that will be free to all members. We cannot divulge additional details at this time until it is closer to completion.  Member are eligible to "test run" our projects or provide feedback and receive free services while in the experimental stages.

- Discounts on web design, email blasts, etc.
We are setting up an automated way to sign up form LSL membership. Anyone that wishes to consign to March Madness before January can, and you can let us know if you want to be a member or not. If you intend to consign two or more llamas, it makes more sense to join as a member. Membership will require setup or notifying us that you want to be a member.

Those farms that are listed in the directory will be receiving these leads shortly if they have not already. All directory memberships will expire at the end of 2009. We made 2009 a "voluntary" year of donations to directory members, meaning many of you did not pay to remain members. But You must renew to remain in the directory in 2010, by either paying $60 for the year or joining as a LSL member. These "referrals" are people looking for information in raising llamas and the industry. In other words, they probably have the means to raise livestock or at least land, and this is a great opportunity to invite them to your farm, give them llama information, and hopefully, bring them into the industry by selling them some llamas.

Tired of paying someone to make your web updates?

Paying for updates adds up over time. Every time you have a new llama to add or update farm news, show new babies, update your sales list, etc. all add up just in a year alone. It's important to keep regularly update your website if you want people to return often and to stay ranked high in search engines. Besides that, often there is a wait for your update. And updates are usually less priority to web designers. The Solution - A way to make your own updates and start saving money now! You pay the one time fee and after a tutorial, you will be able to update content on your website using a "control panel" that we've created. In a small amount of cases, our control panel might not work on some websites. But the majority of sites it will. If you would like to see if this is right for you, contact us about the control panel. We can also refer you to current users so that you can ask them about the ease of use and satisfaction.

Ads on the LSL Website - prices vary according to size and location of ad - $10 - $40 for 2-3 months, depending on ad. Contact us for more information.

Happy New Year!
